Amalie Dahl’s DAFNIE EXTENDED
Since 2021, Amalie Dahl’s Dafnie has made waves on the European jazz scene with extensive touring and two acclaimed album releases: Dafnie (Sonic Transmissions Records, 2022) and Står opp med solen (STR & Aguirre, 2024). Both albums have received rave reviews nationally and internationally, featured in outlets such as The Wire, We Jazz, The Quietus, Klassekampen, and Jazznytt. In 2024, the band was nominated for a Danish Music Award for Single of the Year with “We Don’t Want Your Stupid War.”
Rooted in the jazz community of Trondheim, the quintet brings Amalie Dahl’s compositions to life with conviction and creativity. The music combines structured cells and melodies with moods and frameworks for improvisation, allowing the ensemble to interact and explore freely. The result is an emotional journey, expressing a wide range of feelings and states.
In 2025, Amalie Dahl will present DAFNIE EXTENDED at Moldejazz! This expanded version of the already dynamic band Dafnie takes everything to the next level. Energy, sonic range, wildness, and emotion will all be pushed to their limits. Dahl has carefully selected additional musicians to amplify the core qualities of Dafnie, enriching the band’s sound palette. Together, they will delve further into energies, emotions, textures, and states, creating an intensified and magnified version of Dafnie.
