Andreas Rotevatn
In recent years, Norwegian trombonist Andreas Rotevatn has made waves as both a composer and bandleader. In 2022/2023, he was awarded the prestigious Work Grant for Newly Established Artists by the Norwegian Directorate for Cultural Heritage. This recognition culminated in Av Daude Gror, released in 2024, which has received glowing reviews and marks his third album as a leader.
Rotevatn has previously gained acclaim for his compositions, earning nominations for the Tono Composer Award and winning the Norwegian Jazz Forum’s Jazz Award for Work of the Year. Born and raised in Nordfjordeid on the west coast of Norway, Rotevatn describes himself as a "split musician," firmly rooted in two worlds: his rural upbringing and his adult life in the bustling city of Oslo. This duality is reflected in his music, where influences range from Miles Davis and Stravinsky to Avicii and Michael Jackson.
His latest album, featuring collaborations with Lindstrøm and John Wizards, strikes a vibrant balance between modern dance music and jazz-pop, captivating listeners with its genre-crossing energy.
For his live performances, Rotevatn brings an elite ensemble of Norwegian musicians who also contributed to the album:
Andreas Rotevatn – vocals, trombone, keys
Sofie Tollefsbøl – vocals, keys
Sander Nordahl – guitar
Nikolai Hængsle – bass
Elias Tafjord – drums
