Gard Nilssen Acoustic Unity

Fri aldersgrense

It's rare for a year to pass without seeing Gard Nilssen at Moldejazz, so it's no coincidence that the Program Council UNG – our own youth program council – has chosen Gard Nilssen’s Acoustic Unity as their dream booking. At the same time, there will be a world premiere of Fuzzy record bar as a concert venue.

Fuzzy 250,- fees incl.

Program Council UNG describes the band as an "uptempo funky national jazz trio," which is actually quite an appropriate characterization. It's exuberant music

Nilssen's frequent presence at Moldejazz has exposed many young jazz enthusiasts to his multitude of projects. He is, quite literally, all over the musical map.

Just this year, he is performing a duo concert with Bill Frisell, playing with Susanne Sundfør at Romsdals Museum, and participating in the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra with Bill Frisell. In the past, he has curated the festival celebration of Jon Christensen, "Jon's House," and in 2019, he was the Artist in Residence.

A stream of movement-inducing, life-giving sound, channeled by three musicians who are each powerhouses in their own right, and together become nuclear. Not to mention they are good friends. This results in intriguing music.

And perhaps this is exactly what appeals to the young jazz enthusiasts. GNAU manages to convey traditional idioms without compromising personal style or energy. They capture the ear and sharpen it, making it impossible not to pay attention. One becomes eager to find out what's around the next corner, so to speak.

In 2019, the trio released the Spellemann-nominated album "To Whom Who Buys A Record" – a title that is both a lament for a bygone record industry and a postcard from music that still exists. It’s worth a listen before you settle in at Fuzzy this year.

André Roligheten – saxophone, Petter Eldh – bass, Gard Nilssen – drums.

Concerts in our main program typically last between 60 to 90 minutes.
This concert at Fuzzy has no age restriction.
