Bjørnsonhuset
Bjørnsonhuset has since the opening in 2002 been the main stage for our jazz-concerts. Every year this is where we host the biggest jazz-names partaking in the festival.
With a capacity of approx. 900 and up-to-date facilities, any concert in Bjørnsonhuset presents an exclusive experience.
Alexandraparken (18+)
Alexandraparken has been a regular venue since 2003 and has been an especially important arena during the daytime. In 2009 we chose to extend the offer to also include ticketed concerts in the evenings from 19:00.
The line-up for Alexandraparken should leave no doubt that this is our largest party-scene. Get grooving!
Alexandraparken Daytime
The Alexandra Park has been used by Moldejazz since 2003 and has been a very important venue during the daytime. In 2009, we chose to expand the offering to also include ticketed concerts in the evening.
During the daytime, there are free concerts from 12:00 to 16:00, featuring talents from around the country. Come in and enjoy a variety of great concerts, in addition to drinks, snacks, waffles, and food.
Accessibility:
Separate entrance for disabled individuals on the west side at the dock level (slight slope down from Storgata). A dedicated disabled toilet is available, please contact the guards. Flat ground on asphalt in the concert and bar tents, but some thresholds in the form of cable ramps. Limited accessibility within the upper park area.
Romsdalsmuseet
Moldejazz's largest stage is idyllically situated between old wooden houses at the Romsdal Museum, one of Norway's finest folk museums. The museum concerts have an audience capacity of up to 5.000 and are very important for having a wide concert offer to our audience.
The concerts at the museum are free for children under school age accompanied by an adult.
Reknesparken
Inspired by the song «Break of Day in Molde», we have organized a free «Break of Day» concert in Reknesparken, Molde's largest park area. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy your breakfast to world-class musical accompaniment. This is a festival event that you definitely would not want to miss.
Teatret Vårt (PLASSEN)
In Teatret Vårt we present exciting and challenging music in several rounds per day. We host concerts for both sitting and standing audience, with the night concert commencing at midnight.
Age limit, night concert: 18 years (limited number of tickets for those under 18 years available)
Storyville (PLASSEN)
Storyville is Moldejazz «own» stage. The venue is on the 4th floor of the cultural building Plassen and has a capacity of 130 seats. Here we present exciting and challenging music in an intimate and beautiful arena at Gørvelplassen in the centre of Molde.
Molde Cathedral
In Molde Cathedral, a magnificent church of post-war architecture, Moldejazz has tradition to present jazz with popular appeal, usually with origins from New Orleans. Traditionally, the church concerts are some of the first to be sold out.
Storgata
The festival's Street Parade performs every day during the festival. They start from Scandic Alexandra Hotel at 11.30 and walk to the Daae corner before they go back and eventually ends up at Alexandraparken.
Kafé Kurt
Kafé Kurt's ambition is that their menu is to reflect the commitment, quality and creativity of the cultural institutions located at Plassen. The chefs take great pride in cooking from scratch with good ingredients, preferably from local suppliers. You'll find them via their entry on street level.
Taket (Plassen)
The roof of Plassen is a gem, with limited capacity. But the views of the city, the fjord and the 222 mountain peaks are indescribably beautiful! Access from the outside via Sandvegen (north side of the building), or via elevator inside the building.

Møre og Romsdal Art Centre
Møre og Romsdal Art Centre (MRK) on the 3rd floor of the Plassen Cultural Building is one of 15 art centers spread across counties in Norway. The center was established in 1978 and is organized as an association with two members, Biletkunstnarane i Møre og Romsdal (BKMR) and Norske Kunsthåndverkere Midt-Norge (NKM).
The gallery is open during exhibition periods:
- Wednesday–Friday: 11:00–16:00
- Saturday: 11:00–15:00
- Sunday: 12:00–16:00 (October to March)
Hjertøya
Hjertøya is one of the "Moldeholmene", a group of several long islands and islets in the Romsdalsfjord. Hjertøya is a nature reserve and recreational area with beaches, scenic hiking trails, and a museum. Compared to the old fishing villages along the Romsdal coast, Hjertøya is a tranquil idyll in the Molde Fjord. The island is wooded, with sheltered bays, offering plenty of space for play, swimming, hiking, and in our case - concerts/performances!

Fuzzy
Fuzzy Platebar er en av Norges beste platebarer! Aktiviteten er høy, med bl.a. konserter, plateslipp, vinylsalg, musikkbingo og musikkquiz. Rett og slett et kult sted med flott atmosfære.
I kjelleren på Fuzzy er det et eget konsertlokale, der vi i Moldejazz har konserter. Lokalet er ikke HK-tilpasset, og man må ned en trapp for å komme til lokalet.
Det er to toalett i kjelleren.
Varden
From the viewpoint Varden (407 meters above sea level), you can admire the city of Molde, the fjord with its islets, and the famous Molde panorama with 222 mountain peaks. It takes 10 minutes by car or 1 hour on foot along a nature trail from Molde city center ("The Green Corridor"). Moldejazz's concert at Varden takes place at the old Vardestua, up to the right just before you reach the current Vardestua.
Accessibility
The venue is on a gravel area and is not adapted for accessibility, with a limited number of handicapped parking spaces available. The concert is with standing audience. In 2024, it will be possible to take a bus up to the concert from the bus stop in the city center.

Travel
The town of Molde is beautifully situated by the Romsdalsfjord on the northwest coast of Norway. The airport, Årø, is only a 10 min. drive from the town centre.
If you choose to fly to Molde it will take you approx. one hour from the largest cities in Norway – Oslo, or Bergen. Another alternative is to drive, which on average takes 7 hours from Oslo and 9 hours from Bergen. From Trondheim, the journey only takes 4 hours. It is also possible to travel to Molde by train and bus.
However, if you are travelling from somewhere along the coast from Bergen to the North Cape, using Hurtigruten, the renowned coastal liner, is an experience not to be missed!

Norwegian and Widerøe fly inn and out of Molde, Norwegian between Oslo and Molde, Widerøe between Bergen and Molde. About 50 minutes flight time for both.

Taxi
During the festival week, Molde Taxi is located west of Scandic Alexandra Hotel, and at the main bus stop in city centre.
At night, the taxi queue is organized by guards for best possible efficiency.

Train
The nearest railway station is at Åndalsnes, and from there you can take the corresponding bus to Molde (Aprx 1 hour drive). There are trains from Oslo, and from Bodø via Trondheim and Dombås.
