Jason Moran
Pianist, composer and artist Jason Moran is the Artistic Director of jazz at The Kennedy Center. Now you have a unique opportunity to experience him in solo format - live in our new concert hall, Rådhussalen!
With 18 solo recordings on the prestigious Blue Note Records and Yes Records, Moran has built a unique musical universe. He is the visionary behind the permanent exhibition Here to Stay at the new Louis Armstrong Center in Queens, New York, and co-curated the exhibition I’ve Seen the Wall: Louis Armstrong on Tour in the GDR 1965 at Das Minsk Kunsthaus in Potsdam, Germany. In 2023, he was honored with the German Jazz Prize for Pianist of the Year.
His latest album, From the Dancehall to the Battlefield, pays homage to jazz pioneer James Reese Europe, a key figure in jazz’s “big bang” during World War I. Moran’s collaborations span a wide range of influential artists, including Joan Jonas, Kara Walker, Stan Douglas, Theaster Gates, and Remy Jungeman, consistently crafting musical experiences that take you on a journey through the history and future of jazz.
