9 Grader Nord

Moldejazz and Myldr welcomes you to a concert July 20th at Storlihytta

9 degrees north of equator you´ll find the city of Jaffna in Sri Lanka, where half of the band members are from.

The quartet consisting of sisters Mira and Dipha Thiruchelvam, Jakob Sønnesyn and Jakob Sisselson Hamre offers a mix of genres, such as baila, flamenco, jazz and Carnatic music.

The talented quartet brings you on a musical journey with instruments that you don’t hear every day such as bamboo flute and cajon.

Their vision is to challenge the musical preferences with a wide range of foreign tones. They have enchanted audiences at festivals all over the country, including Wild Wild West, Vinjerock, NattJazz, Bergenfest, Trænafestivalen, Oslo Jazzfestival, and the SPOT festival in Aarhus. The band was also awarded “Subjektprisen” (the Subject Award) for Artist of the Year in 2019.

In November 2019, they released their debut record «Jaffna», loved by both fans and reviewers.
