Children's Drawing of the Year 2024

The Winner of Children's Drawing of the Year 2024 is Announced!
The jury at Moldejazz has received wonderful drawings from fourth graders at Molde schools, and this year, it is Sofie Andresen's drawing that will grace the festival's t-shirt! Congratulations!

Sofie Andresen is in class 4A at Langmyra School, and her class was one of many invited to participate in the competition to create a drawing for Moldejazz's Children's T-shirt

Many Contributions

Moldejazz has organized a drawing competition for over 20 years, and participation is always high. This year, around 450 drawings were submitted by fourth graders in Molde, and on June 11th, it was finally time to reveal whose drawing would decorate the festival's t-shirt.

Excitement

Festival director Endre and sponsor and sales manager Ellisif were quite excited as they drove to Langmyra School. Under their black Moldejazz jackets, they wore t-shirts featuring the winning design. There was also excitement in the school auditorium when Endre and Ellisif knocked on the door. The fourth graders began to realize that something special was happening.

“We're from Moldejazz. Do you know why we are here?” Endre asked. “The instrument drawing?” replied a boy. “Yes, and the winner is here in this room, and soon we will reveal who it is. Can you give us a drum roll?”

The students eagerly complied, and soon a drum roll echoed through the room. The eyes of 60 students, 7 teachers, the winner's parents, and some jury members were all on Endre and Ellisif as they unzipped their jackets to reveal the t-shirt featuring the Children's Drawing of the Year 2024! It was extra special for Sofie when she realized it was her drawing! She received lots of cheers and congratulations, and all the students enjoyed a celebratory moment with juice and candy. When the winner comes from our school, it must be celebrated!

Happy Winner

Sofie received a warm hug from her mom and dad and was ready to meet the journalist. “Congratulations, Sofie! How does this feel, and can you tell us a bit about your drawing?” “I am very happy!” Sofie smiled from ear to ear. “We were supposed to draw an instrument, and I thought it would be nice to include a bit of nature too,” Sofie said, pointing to the mushroom and insect nicely placed by the colorful saxophone. “I was excited when Moldejazz came. I remembered the competition and wondered who won? And then it was me!” Sofie smiled, adding that she likes to draw and often does so when she is bored.

Great Winning Drawing

There were six people on the jury, with Ellisif as the jury leader. She is very pleased with this year's competition.

“It is always fun to see all the wonderful drawings that come in. This year's theme was Instrument, and we think the winning drawing is very special. It has many details without being too much, and the colors are clear and beautiful. We ended up with two final drawings, and the jury unanimously chose Sofie's drawing,” Ellisif explained.

Jury Members 2024: Karin Norli (General Sponsor Sparebank 1 SMN), Bodil Palma Hollingsæter (Chairman Moldejazz), Arne Frostad (Volunteer Moldejazz), Endre Volden og Ellisif Vestad
