Arild Andersen to open Moldejazz nr. 64!
Moldejazz is delighted to announce that this year's opening speaker is the jazz musician Arild Andersen.
Moldejazz is thrilled to reveal that this year's opening speaker will be the legendary jazz musician Arild Andersen.
Arild Andersen is not only a legend in the field of jazz but also a multifaceted artist who will be visiting Molde both as a musician and as the opening speaker. He will be performing in a duo with Artist in Residence Bill Frisell, a collaboration he is eagerly looking forward to.
Arild Andersen has played with prominent jazz musicians worldwide and received the Buddy Award, Norway's highest jazz honor, in 1969. In 2022, he was appointed Commander of the Order of St. Olav for his outstanding contributions to jazz. Between these prestigious awards, he has won numerous Spellemann awards and recorded countless albums.
Having Arild open this year's Moldejazz allows us to connect with the festival's rich history. As a musician, he has played with most of the greats and has visited Molde so many times that it felt only natural to honor him with the distinguished role of opening Moldejazz 2024.
