From Country at Romsdalsmuseet to Free Jazz at Fuzzy

New artists for Moldejazz 2025 are now being announced every Thursday! From intimate concerts at local bars to big celebrations in Alexandraparken, an incredible variety of artists is coming together to thrill audiences across the city’s unique venues. Today, we’re announcing two more!

Tobias Sten

It’s already known that the legendary Maxwell, who has captivated music lovers worldwide with his emotional soul for over two decades, will perform at Romsdalsmuseet on Friday, July 18. As a perfect contrast, we’re now excited to reveal that Tobias Sten will take the stage before him.

Hailing from Stord, Tobias has been breathing country music since childhood. He formed his own country band at just 12 years old and has been performing ever since. Singing in his native Stord dialect, he delivers deeply personal lyrics about growing up in the countryside, with a striking ability to connect with his audience. A fresh force in Norwegian music, Tobias has already proven himself as an artist to watch – and we know he’ll amaze the crowd at Romsdalsmuseet!

This trio features Paal Nilssen-Love, a legend in free improvisation and jazz, who has played with greats like Peter Brötzmann, David Murray, and Pat Metheny. Joining him is Emil Bø, recipient of Oslo Jazz Festival’s Talent Award 2023, and one of Norwegian jazz’s most exciting new names. And last but not least: Kertu Aer, a bassist of immense power and melodic depth, named Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2025.
