Nubya Garcia, 4 x AiR, and Christian McBride among 10 program additions!

Moldejazz is announcing two of today's strongest names in jazz, the British Nubya Garcia and the American Irreversible Entanglements. These are two artists who are pushing jazz forward on different fronts and are not afraid to develop it. They have received numerous awards in recent years and create a sense that modern jazz is a major inspiration for many other genres and artists right now.

We are delighted to welcome an artist who has long been on the wish list and who has not yet been to Molde under his own name, one of the greats of jazz, and a person who is constantly involved in new projects and ensembles, bassist Christian McBride from Philadelphia. McBride has played with giants such as Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, Diana Krall, Pat Metheny, and the list can be made very long after more than 300 recordings and 8 Grammy awards. McBride in many ways creates a unique bridge between jazz's past and future and will now come to Alexandraparken on Monday, July 15, with his hot new Christian McBride Quintet!

Our Artist in Residence, Bill Frisell, will this summer do two completely unique duo concerts with two of Norway's leading musicians, Arild Andersen and Gard Nilssen. These two concerts will be an important part of Bill's residency and show in many ways the great influence the Norwegian scene has had on Bill over the years. These concerts are going to be cherished musical reunions.

Bill Frisell will also present his two most active groups right now, Bill Frisell FOUR and Bill Frisell Trio, where in the latter he also includes star saxophonist Immanuel Wilkins. A name on many lips right now.

Trondheim Jazz Orchestra & I Like to Sleep "Scholarship Concert" will be a deeply magical experience where the distinctive trio has now created music for the larger format and has put together a dream ensemble in Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, continuing their vision of delivering "powerjazz to the people."

The well-known musical geniuses Ola Kvernberg and Stian Carstensen will perform a duo concert at Bjørnsonhuset that you will not soon forget. The concept for the concert is the "Request Concert" - a concert where the audience is invited to request musical content in advance. Anything can happen here, and we believe this could be one of the festival's great highlights!

Don't miss "Sweden's best live band" (Lira 2019) and one of Moldejazz's most unique phenomena and a true audience favorite, Louisiana Avenue, at Alexandraparken on Monday night! Since 2019, the party band with a capital P has captivated Moldejazz with its unwavering energy and stage performance!
