Tuva Halse Quintet
With a captivating atmosphere and compelling interplay, Tuva Halse Quintet draws you into their expressive universe from the very first note. The quintet, consisting of five young musicians from the Norwegian jazz scene, takes inspiration from artists such as Kenny Wheeler and Mathias Eick, while folk and classical music contribute to a distinctive, contrasting sound.
Violinist and composer Tuva Halse, originally from Molde, has made a strong mark both nationally and internationally. She has performed with renowned names like Mathias Eick, Tord Gustavsen, and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, and her debut album Two (Jazzland, 2023) received glowing reviews. In 2024, she was named an NTNU ambassador for her "playfully lyrical nerve" and awarded DNB's #huninvesterer grant, leading to the commissioned work Air Music with Håkon Kornstad at Kongsberg Jazz Festival. Inspired by nature, relationships, and human emotions, she composes music where improvisation takes center stage – a melodic journey from the melancholic to the intense.
We look forward to an exciting musical encounter with Tuva Halse Quintet at our new, unique venue – Rådhussalen in Molde!
